As a Glass and Porcelain Painter, you will learn in a 3-year training program how to artistically design and decorate glass and porcelain objects. You will apply various painting techniques and work with special colors to create unique artworks or functional items.
What you do
- Prepare and clean surfaces of glass and porcelain objects
- Mix colors and prepare special glass and porcelain paints
- Design and sketch motifs, patterns, and designs
- Paint and decorate glass and porcelain vessels as well as flat glass
- Apply various painting techniques (e.g., brush painting, screen printing, airbrush)
- Monitor and adjust firing processes in the kiln
- Carry out restoration work on old or damaged objects
Requirements
- Artistic talent and strong creativity
- High precision and very good fine motor skills
- Patience, diligence, and attention to detail
- Good color perception and sense of form
- Interest in art, craftsmanship, and materials like glass and porcelain
- Communication skills for customer consultation and teamwork
- At least a Hauptschulabschluss (comparable to secondary school certificate)
